How to stop unbound reporting any statistics?

Not to my knowledge, and I just double-checked. It seems to me, that the time needed until final shutdown of the daemon, is needed for evaluation of those statistics. unbound is running within a FreeBSD jail, and logging is forwarded to the host. That might slow down unbound's shutdown.
But: I believed that setting "statistics-interval: 0" in unbound.conf would discard statistics completely, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Has anyone else succeeded in discarding statistics in toto?
